Role Overview

The Programme Analyst will support UNFPA’s Tanzania Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) programme by analyzing political, social, and economic trends. Responsibilities include implementing, coordinating, and monitoring gender-responsive maternal health and midwifery activities, contributing to programme targets, and supporting knowledge management and advocacy strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with government and NGO partners to design and implement the country programme.
  • Monitor and ensure effective oversight mechanisms.
  • Analyze the political, social, and economic environment for opportunities for UNFPA intervention.
  • Prepare briefs and inputs for policy dialogue.
  • Assess policy developments and ensure their integration into SRH programmes.
  • Establish relationships with partners and stakeholders for timely project delivery.
  • Support knowledge management and capture best practices.
  • Assist in advocacy and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Manage relevant budgets and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced degree in public health, medicine, social science, or related fields; background in nursing and midwifery is advantageous.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in development and population activities, with specific experience in sexual and reproductive health desirable.
  • Experience in program/project management and familiarity with office software and web-based systems.
  • Knowledge of Tanzanian context and government systems, especially in social development and health.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable.
