The PSRS was created by the Public Service Act No. 8 of 2002 and is now part of the President’s Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance (PO-PSMGG).
The PO-PSMGG helps the Chief Secretary with personnel and administration matters in the government.
The Permanent Secretary is in charge of the PO-PSMGG and has about 300 employees. The PO-PSMGG used to be called the Civil Service Department and changed its name in 2003 to comply with the Public Service Act.
The PO-PSMGG wants to be efficient and effective in managing the public service and providing its services.
