Tanzania Health Promotion Supports (THPS) is an indigenous NGO established under the Non-Governmental Organization Act No. 24 of 2002 in 2011.

THPS works in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MOHCDGEC), Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG), and Ministry of Health (MOH) in Zanzibar with the goal of ensuring accessible high-quality health care services to Tanzanians.

This is achieved through the strengthening of health and community systems for comprehensive quality health services, including HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, prevention of GBV, reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child, and adolescent health (RMNHCAH) services, laboratory, and health management information systems (HMIS).

Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THPS), in collaboration with Usheu District Council through the Afya Hatua – Care and Treatment project, is currently seeking highly experienced, committed, and motivated Tanzanians to fill the following positions for a 3-month period with possibilities of a 1-year extension depending on donor funds and project priorities:

Job Instructions

To ensure implementation and reporting of high-quality HIV services in the facility in accordance with Facility, District, Regional, Government, and PEPFAR guidance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure provision of clinical services at CTC to all clients on a daily basis from 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.
  • Facilitate a few selected weekend and evening clinics, especially for stable clients’ drug pick up.
  • Ensure the files of the expected clients are retrieved a day before and traced according to the three boxes initiative.
  • Participate in facility, council, and THPS lead data review meetings.
  • Facilitate daily review of CTC activities for improvement in the following day(s) and correction of gaps.
  • Facilitate coordination of all QI Meetings in the facility.
  • Communicate closely with District and THPS Staff to ensure smooth uninterrupted availability of HIV interventions in your facility.
  • Ensure the facility meets its target on new clients on HIV treatment through the availability of high-quality HIV testing and linkage services in the facility, including Linkage Case Management, Index Testing, PITC, etc.
  • Ensure the facility meets its target on the number of clients on treatment by strengthening adherence and retention care and treatment through the provision of friendly services, tracing of defaulters, and returning them to care.
  • Ensure all CTC clients attended at CTC/PMTCT are screened for TB with fidelity and meet 5% of TB case identification among TXCURR.
  • Ensure all TB Presumptive cases identified are tested for TB and the facility meets 75% of Gene Xpert utilization.
  • Ensure all TB Positive cases are initiated on treatment in time and documented accordingly.
  • Ensure all Eligible clients for HVL are taken on time and documented accordingly.
  • Ensure all clients with High viral Load are initiated on EAC and documented accordingly.
  • Ensure all TXNEW, RTT, Clients with High VL two times consecutively, and Newly WHO clinical stages 3 and 4 are screened for ADH as per the current National guideline.
  • Ensure all eligible clients for CD4 count and CrAg Test are taken per the current National guideline.
  • Supervise Peer Educators, Clinical Trackers, Data Officers, HIV Testers
  • Supervise Peer Educators, Clinical Trackers, Data Officers, HIV Testers, Pharmacists, and Lab Personnel to ensure they implement their activities accurately and timely.
  • Ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities and work under strict deadlines.
  • Facilitate accurate and timely data collection and submission at your facility on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis with minimal or no support from THPS staff.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least a Diploma in Clinical Medicine.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of HIV/AIDS and HIV medical care services as per Tanzania’s current National guideline.
  • Must be a Clinical Officer and registered with MCT number and a valid license of practice.
  • Knowledge of computers will be an added advantage (MS Word, Excel, and MS).
  • Experience of working with HIV/AIDS Care and treatment programs will be an added advantage.
  • Capable of independently implementing the duties described above.
  • Fluent in Kiswahili and English.
