Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is a prominent research organization in Africa, specializing in developing, testing, and validating health innovations. Position Summary: IHI is seeking a qualified Research Officer responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with HIV and/or Tuberculosis at St. Francis Referral Hospital (SFRH). The Officer will collaborate on the Kilombero and Ulanga Antiretroviral Cohort (KIULARCO) research platform, conduct research projects, and supervise and train colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Treat PLHIV and/or Tuberculosis following national guidelines.
  • Supervise and train medical professionals in diagnosis and management.
  • Diagnose and treat opportunistic infections, maintaining proper documentation.
  • Conduct consultations, ward rounds, and provide health education.
  • Adhere to job descriptions, regulations, and attend mandatory meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine.
  • Certificate of Internship.
  • Registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (or application in progress).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Interest in TB/HIV.
  • High motivation for research.
  • Interpersonal skills, collaborative management style.
  • Fluent in Swahili and English.
  • Building and sustaining relationships.
  • Training younger staff.
  • Planning and organizing skills.
  • Result-oriented with professional ethics.

Remuneration: A competitive package will be offered based on IHI salary scales.
